Ask me anything
Lord. When was the last time I wrote a legitimate update? Feels like it’s been forever! Anyway, I think this is due to the fact that it’s been fairly hard to find the head space to reflect, let alone on this little box. Whatever time I find for a breather is occupied by a need to rest, and all else will have to wait. And also the largely unedited, stream-of-consciousness banter goes to my new diary app these days anyhow. It’s just better that way, less painful to read.
Anyhow, I started a new job back in July. That major thing I was preparing for was for this job. Three interview sessions and meeting about a dozen people after, I got the job, with much more than pleasant offerings. Suffice to say, this is sort of an equivalent of a promotion or raise at my old job’s standards. A handsome upgrade to say the least.
I now work at a technology company in the mobile lab of their research center for user experience, as a senior visual designer… hopefully eventually as a futurist, thinktank. It’s a lot of added pressure for sure, but I love a good challenge.
:: Today is the BF’s birthday. This past weekend has been a non-stop stream of celebratory feasting, romp, and decadence. Pictures to come.
:: Saw a documentary last night. “Bill Cunningham New York”. A beautiful, poetic look into the life of a legendary street fashion photographer that’s been an integral part of the international fashion scene in the past half century. For someone of such talent, to live a life so dedicated to his craft, it’s altogether inspiring and humbling. Even at his own honorary award ceremony in Paris, he keeps snapping away at the scene. In his simple worker’s coat, camera strapped around his neck, he greets his audience with a string of simple french and olden day New York accent. “It’s as true today as it ever was,” he starts to weep, “He who seeks beauty, will find it.” I cried.
:: I haven’t had much time for self-reflection. Being whisked away by time and all that life pushes downstream. There are lots of changes happening internally. I just hope I get to look back a bit some time and make sense of it all.
